Rune 12: Dream of the Cross
The text the 30 images on this and the following four pages devolve from is Karl Young's translation of A Dream of the Rood, a runic text found on an elaborately carved eighth Century stone cross, and turned into Anglo-Saxon and extended in a manuscript of devotional works, now referred to as The Vercelli Book, compiled around the end of the tenth Century.
