Pete Spence
Severed Panic.
slim light the hill sulks
quickly! take in some
available air! rocks lie
in wait above the clouds
something swirls behind
the shadows look! how
everything changes colour!
some trees rush past in panic
the season nervously
adjusts itself levering the sun
bail that rain! stack those bails!
the wind in swagger occasion
tumbles a brisk medication
the grass panics in the rushes
panic! has the moss eaten?
a bruised sound limps by
a chorus intrudes swiftly
charred by an aria of flames
April 1st.
April sort of stepped over the waste and detritus of March
the sunlight's lengthening angle is suddenly noticed the shadows
lean away while the background noise gets a little darker though some
hype in the distance won't play ball rackets its way into view
brushing aside the sepia clouds threatening rain the air shaking in dismay
the 4 winds are drawing straws to see who will unpack a breeze a gust
or a gale today setting the tone and turbulence to be made on the best path
to take to whatever destination on offer eager for your arrival
well its a gentle breeze that won the day inching past in the staggered light
the leaves nodding contentedly as various sounds dawdle towards you
across the lively grass everything rolling casually to the impasse of lunch
while the afternoon builds up like a ball of air readying to tumble into view
stammering for attention leaving the clouds stunned and bruised
the panorama suddenly feeling renewed like a yeast paddling about
in perfect conditions as the breeze settles back like a spectator
Moscow. A Narrative.
just as i'm thinking of you
you aren't near
but on a flight to Moscow
to live with the bears
but the pilot prefers Havana
you shudder
and another ice shelf
collapses into the sea! what!
what if my bears
cannot obtain visas?
could they find their
summer coats in time?
offering the pilot
the parachute option
you fly the plane
direct to Moscow
