quickly become your enemy.

quickly become your enemy.

Or worse yet, suddenly appear in
the lapel of your enemy.



MAYHEM

Bertha feared that her husband
would leave her and run away
to Mexico with another woman
and so with a razor she removed

his penis from his body and was
charged with “Mayhem” and
her husband ran away to Mexico
just as she predicted he might

and married another woman
and she married another man
and neither married happily
but not before she posed

for the camera wearing what
was once referred to as
a ‘Hair Rat’ which kept her

luxurious hair pinned tightly
above her head using wire,
hair, turn-of-the-century plastic

to create a ‘crown’ or ‘halo’ effect
as one might find more often on
a queen or angel, ethereally perfect
from another world,
but not this one.
