INFORMATION

Already a third of the elephant has entered the car. Already a third of the man has been replaced by the woman. Already a third of the book has been understood. Already a third of the light has been removed.

INFORMATION

The cap, lid, or cover not replaced, or described in detail. What is left is the story of tomorrow, or at least what remains of it once the vowels have been removed.

INFORMATION

The signs are written in Chinese or Arabic or Russian. Their meaning is unknown. There is no color to give them a clue. What is spoken is a caption that must be read rather than heard. The only movement is that of the rats or the rain.

INFORMATION

They thought cute was an explanation, but it was only a symptom.

INFORMATION

“If a dictionary is needed to read the poem, an emotional connection will be lacking.” She said this over and over again but they never understood what she meant. Sometimes her hair covered the words that were essential.

INFORMATION

The map of puberty contains many wrong turns and hidden destinations. Sometimes a bicycle is useful, or a balloon shaped like a rain barrel. And, of course, there are words we will never see again.

INFORMATION

They become actual once they are described, once they are given a name, once they become men instead of women, once they resemble owls instead of stars.

INFORMATION

The story is the difference between stopping and speeding up, between color and the lack of color, between the dimensions each man is required to fill and his actual dimensions.

INFORMATION

The first device they created was salt, the second a painting that resembled the sky, the third a vehicle that included distance, the fourth a set of dots that could never be connected.

INFORMATION

The idea of distance sometimes causes death.

INFORMATION

The index contains ten entries for the word “index.”

INFORMATION

The eye a special kind of mechanism that can be used to replace the pigeons or the steam engine.

INFORMATION

The dreams of the dead fill the rooms where once they were loved, where once they were punished, where once they were introduced to the bears and the ostriches. In their dreams the dead can speak, but only to themselves.
