Karl Kempton lives with his beloved wife, Ruth, in Oceano, California. He has been writing lexical poetry, composing visual poetry and visual text art since the early 1970s. He is the architect of the Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary effort now in formal NOAA nomination status (https://chumashsanctuary.com/) thanks to the hard work of many others.

Recent books include poems about something & nothing, published by Paper Press (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1516861043/ref=rdr_ext_tmb), & A History of Visual Text Art, available in pdf at www.applepie-editions.co.uk. A recent interview with Karl and Philip Davenport about that latest project is online at https://theoddmagazine.wixsite.com/visualpoetry/interview.

A link to an invited essay on why he wrote A History... and the background for its root, the 2005 essay, "VISUAL POETRY: A Brief History of Ancestral Roots and Modern Traditions," can be found at https://textartarchive.com/2019/08/08/behind-between-the-lines-by-karl-kempton/.

A link to an exhibition in which some of these pieces are included can be found here.
