Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal
So Far-Fetched
I lived on a branch.
I lived on a root.
It is not so far-fetched
to live in such things.
I lived under a rock.
I got a good deal.
I lived in an echo
and in the rot of bark.
It was not so far-fetched.
How I lie to myself.
I talk out of
my hinny
like a
well-known
politician.
Eat the Sun
Consume
the ire
that simmers
about
every move
you make.
Eat the sun,
all its
pulp and heat,
and its
fiery
orange head.
Born in Mexico, Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal lives in California and works in the mental health field. His poetry has been published by Pygmy Forest Press, Kendra Steiner Editions, Heroin Love Songs 2.0, Yellow Mama Magazine, and ZYX.
