Shining My Shoes For The End Of Days

Finnish waters
may breach the levees
broadcast it on t.v.
and interruptions of all
kinds of things
for the Queen I hear
is dead and clouds
range the bruised inlets.

Things have gotten bad.
An old man is no longer
honored where he lives.
Knocked down 'n' robbed of his few dollars,
maybe he's stabbed and/or kicked.
Whatever it is a scar is left.

The children hide under
desks that house their rulers
and dear things. They no longer go
on school trips. This is an active
shooter drill. Learning by heart
these earliest things. Memories
of evasive skills.

Jack Galmitz has been writing most of his life. For the past decade, he has had much of his work published in Otoliths. It has been his honor. He has gotten to know the work of many of the regular contributors and this has been educational and pleasurable.
