Stacey Allam & John M. Bennett
Teachers
Teachers
skating the rows
of backwards nutcracker
chanting open door o
pen door with boot tips
that could hardly
reach the sawdust
smouldering in the aisles
Dishes
Wind gruel in the sink
tasted without a sweep
of fingers holding bricks
of cushions & rubber gloves
without ridges
empty water
Lunch
She rolled over
without finger snaps
without the corncob
picking between your teeth
the stuck seeds were wind
were bouquets of seersucker suits
soaked with cottage cheese
Stacey Allam is originally from Rego Park, Queens, New York, but has resided in Brooklyn for many years. She has been writing poetry most of her life.
