Sanket Mhatre
DIVIDED BY TWO, MULTIPLIED BY ONE
Camphor lines purify evenings
Age sits down on a flight of stairs, to listen
Silence is a cake, equally shared
Relished – like the flavors of her latest find
Stories are as green as her walls
Under the texture of her Bombay skin
First, I thought these were lines
– they were unspoken prayers
Time multiples even now
endings don’t have endings
Divided by two windows
multiplied by one story
Sanket Mhatre has been featured at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, Jaipur Literature Festival and Glass House Poetry Festival. His first book of cross-translated poems,
The Coordinates Of Us, won the prestigious Raza Foundation Grant after been shortlisted at IWrite2020 at Jaipur Literature Festival.
