Julian Jason Haladyn
Unphysical States
The parameter                         lost cohesion
closing stings and
                                            a state of
ends that travel          at the speed of light
image the moment     when
             a two-dimensional surface     in space-time
             a world sheet
lost amongst the           myriad
theories that are                      at the speed of light
                                                        relativistic by nature
Pythagoras fly-fishing or      a state of
relative            cohesion
mass that does not                   have mass
unphysics                       as Jarry might have called it
left-movers and             right-movers
                          strings left all to themselves
like particles seen                             in space-time
                                              a continuum of
             ends that travel           unphysically
Intaglio Landscape 2.5 x 11.3
The river is moving now
lines upon lines upon
trees lining the entrance
no leaves as of yet
the scene anticipates spring
but the trees are patient
the river moving
in black and white
Matisse’s Backyard
The pigeons feed and coo
resting on Roman ruins
while dogs
dogs escape to the laughing crowd
behind Matisse’s house
              in the olive groves
where children play an intense game of bacci ball
              in the grassy landscape
laughing and rolling    metal balls that are Matisse sculptures
                                             or bright green hula hoops
through the abandoned alleys
              of olive trees
while dogs
                         dogs chase each other
through the Roman ruins
where apples fall and people urinate on graves
everyone in the café laughed when the dog escaped
red leash falling from his neck
              in a splash of paint
birthdays are celebrated
with bottles of hard cider and dog bites
a lonely man sat
in the Roman ruins
talking about his daughter visiting Banff
              he just needed to talk
the café is busy              with birds flying overhead
while dogs return home
let in the back door of Matisse’s house
