William Allegrezza
from Tracings from the Front
insular
for ernesto priego
scattered
place them all
strangers to each
they had the vaguest idea of boundaries
men who followed their
collapsible little flagpoles wherever
they went
that was misleading
disturbingly insular.
the scene of action
profoundly unsettled
i am faced with the problem of liv-
ing
sodden and su-
preme
a turn of the wheel
i am learning to hate
quite inexplicable
largely unheard
missives
to take home
to assume
required answers
political civility
adorned with pearl buttons
their honeymoon began
the blue stair
entirely
various
every hour
a little round ball
no doubt
All testify
like every
unexpected
challenge
bear you while I breathe
“You ought to trust me”
