Mary Ellen Derwis lives in northeast Ohio. She is coauthor, with Joe Balaz, of JOMA—online, an online gallery of concrete poetry and photography. Her photography has appeared in or is forthcoming from Oregon Literary Review, AdmitTwo, Eleventh Transmission, Otoliths, Wheelhouse, Neon Literary Magazine and Subtle Tea. What interests her in the field of photo-art is the unpredictable and synergistic nature of photography in general. Capturing an image that can be enhanced in different ways to bring about a visual dialogue between viewer and photograph is what drives her work.
