Approbations

445
—after Herbie Hancock’s Solitude

Windows of blind light, dexterous
gingerly on raised, syncopated rhythms: crawls
                                                                                           of second’s birthing
tired feet
stepping
on land
                whose physiology
proclaims
the eldest’s manifestation of agnostical ache. Alone with
an eye’s favorable sleeping,
near noon’s warmest breaths
                he, the aged skin
wearing skeletal dangles
weeps
into
a chair whose holding her body now
creeks against the shadow of
her long ago absence.

446
—after Chris Potter’s The Absence

The name I mentioned,
gone in bodily action, verb
of halving here and not
holds attention long beyond
fabricated need to
alleviate error.

447
—after Dave Douglas’ Unison

Much of night, fractals, hearsay,
heretofore mentioning myopic interpretational
                furtive. In glass, tongue impression
open wind speech, whirling
together, recipe of whir,                               : moments of fictional memory.

472
—after Enrico Pieranunzi’s One lone star

Like mirrors dancing
                leaving
one whose reflectional data
                               does not represent the beautiful
ambience of night’s murmuring virtues,
                                                                                           left
to examine self of the watching
symbol
                               delineate physical fractions
into hopeful desires of passionate receipt; yet

in the everything the eyes proclaim as outcast deliberation
mirror
desires the desirous mention of motion
nesting in the deep recollection of life’s
existential
                logic of
ostentatious belonging.

473
—after Miles Davis’ Gone

I aggregate
sound but
buy
                               into silence’s fashionable
verbatim of nascent
                               cultures
living in sequence
                                                             atop
                                                             the tongue of anecdotal
                                                                   p       r       o       m       i       s       e

exposing preference
                within relegated moments of time

alone.

474
—after Stan Getz’s Here's That Rainy Day

Massive disguise
wind wears ballerina’s blur
                controlling
rummy havoc, syncopated otherness
drawn
                to conclusive
signature of sounds. Eyes like gray
marbles
                rolled
emboldened
                               versions of visual acrobatic time,
allowing angular wetness
abbreviated Winter.
