Johannes Bjerg

17 syllables ku

long past Jobim Sundays getting damp wood for the fire in a slow waltz

*

pondering solar flares I lit a smoke and watch a bridge cross water

*

still on this side of the mirror she wants a vampire doll for Christmas

*

a box of shadows barely in view some Fridays in the corners left

*

at the far end of a black hole doors for single birds and broken loves

*

it's a sealed off room where I play the guitar and drop small star fish

Johannes Bjerg was born in 1957 in Denmark, which he still calls home. He writes, however, in both Danish and English, which is an important element of his work—mainly haiku and related forms. He is a founder and co-editor of Bones - a journal for contemporary haiku, and is anthologized in A New Resonance 8, (Red Moon Press, 2013). He has authored several books, including Penguins / Pingviner - 122 bilingual haiku, English and Danish, (Cyberwit, India, 2011); Parallels, English, (Yet To Be Named Free Press, England, 2013); Threads / Tråde, bilingual haiku, (Createspace 2013); Notes 10 11 -12 / Noter 10 11 -12, bilingual linked verse, (Yet To Be Named Free Press, England, 2013); Paper Bell Lessons / Papirklokkebelæringerne, bilingual haiku, (Createspace, 2013); and, Like a Plane / Som et fly, image and haiku, (ebook). Most of these books have a free e-book version (http://january-stones.blogspot.dk/p/books.html) for reading and/or downloading.
