Neil Ellman

Small Worlds XII
(after the etching by Wassily Kandinsky)

Worlds within
small worlds
smaller still
worlds within
like fish swimming
around a lure
eager to feed
and die
among the smallest
worlds within
a droplet of time
death itself
matters little
when so little
and so small.

Neil Ellman, a poet from New Jersey, has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net and Rhysling Award. Almost 1,000 of his poems, most of which are ekphrastic and written in response to works of modern and contemporary art, appear in print and online journals, anthologies and chapbooks throughout the world.
