Carol Shillibeer

arcadia, in this case, is a cement square in the alley off the kitchens

we are waiting here for the overfed clock to spittle minutes

bruised skin of work, under the sun, the lolling kiss of ease
unwinds along the limbs, a lunch break in which no one eats

five minutes in and space has begun to levitate
there's quite a six centimeter gap from the over indulgent earth

backs curved, the green plastic chairs skim dandelions
untucked white shirts billow, the sky crumbles against the mouth

Carol Shillibeer lives on the west coast of Canada. Her publication list is at carolshillibeer.com.
