Shloka Shankar

Freewheeling

connecting
the dots in my head,
i don’t see
the picture i’m supposed to

a twig cracks
in three as it free
                               wheels to the ground
like a penny care
lessly
thrown
           into
                     the
                               wishing
                                         fountain

the splash
echoes my senti
ments for today

not the obvious sense
of de
  tach
ment
i feel
for you

or for everyone
                               else.
