Scott Helmes & John M. Bennett








Scott Helmes is a poet, book artist, writer, artist, architect and photographer. His experimental poetry has been collected, published and exhibited worldwide for over 40 years. Recent books include 1000 Haiku, Stamp Pad Press, Poems From Then to Now, Redfox Press, Ireland and he is included in The Last Vispo Anthology: Visual Poetry 1998-2008. Photography is included in Architecture 2012 published by Universe Publishing and the Walker Art Center recently acquired a photography book – Museums. Book work has been exhibited in 2012 at the Handmade/Homemade exhibit-Pace University, NY and The Kelly Writers House, University of Pennsylvania. Artistic work in 2012 has included Art on the Plains X1, Plains Art Museum, Fargo; and Snippets: Visual Text, R&F Gallery, Kingston, NY. At the 40th Northern Lights White Bear Lake Arts Center juried show in 2014, he received an Award of Excellence for a work on paper. In 2015, two works were included in The New Concrete an international concrete poetry anthology from Hayward Press, London. A recent Minneapolis Star Tribune review of the Minnetonka Center for the Arts ‘Abstraction in Action’ exhibit prominently noted two of his works. Featured Artist, ‘Under the Gum Tree’, October 2015. With Minnesota Center for Book Arts and Picasso Gaglione, he is creating the S. Helmes and W. Gaglione Antique Rubber Stamp Archive in Minneapolis. He is a co-founder of S2BH, which designs and sells Corian® tabletop accessories in museum shops nationwide. His studio is located in Minneapolis, MN, USA.
