Eileen R. Tabios / #EileenWritesNovel / July

Ugh. The goal of dailiness turns writing into exercise. If you don't do it in the morning to get it out of the way, it becomes a pain in the butt. May this phase pass...

Reader, I whimpered. The novel apparently has a Part III. Stuck to my chair, I am becoming stick everywhere except at my belly where the wine gathers and lingers. Hours after the revelation—“WTF, Part III?!”—I am reconciled. I shall end the day grateful for the bounty of my Muse—such a garrulous Muse I had to draw a Family Tree before I lose track. WTF! I’m drawing a family tree?!

On the other hand, I’m amazed at the existence of a family tree. Those details were not in my head when I began writing on January 1 to begin My Year of the Novel! Whether in poetry or this novel, it’s really lovely to see the writing write itself…to reward the writer who, albeit grumblingly, will be there giving attention. Attend to the work and the work attends to you.

PRE-COFFEE: The novel woke me up all irritated that I was distracted all day yesterday (though did my daily write) releasing the review journal I edit, Galatea Resurrects. Not to worry, I picked up that novel and kicked its butt across the room.

Oh Orange Wig! There’s a Part IV! The novel has a Part IV! No wonder people plagiarize! Writing anew H.U.R.T.S!!!! I'm dizzy now ...
