YOU BETTER GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES
Her old boyfriend peeks into the mail slot
                She says you gotta to be kidding me
                               Watch her as she turns up the volume

Fields with target practice blot out other memories
Little mitts made of leather and oiled daily
FRIGGIN RELATIVES: STAGE THE BARBEQUE!
This shirt’s too small, send it back, get my money
                Their overheated engine stalls in traffic
                               Watch her as she licks her lips again

Desert tries to abolish the last trace of violet
CAN’T HELP IT     CAN”T GET THERE
Rolling down the rickety lot, doors open
                Blammmmm   it’s happening again
                               Watch her as she turns to say I didn’t mean it




Susan Gangel lives and works in San Francisco, often collaborating with poet Kit Kennedy in her blog PoetryBites and the artist Terry Turrentine on vispo, e-works, and old skool plastic arts. She is currently working on the serial paintings Stakeout and runs the e/plus-gallery chaparral in New Mexico.
