Archy’s Final Words


Brought forward six days, Archibald, a flighty culprit, hangs low from an apricot plant.

His joints drag along sandy ground, not a gash upon his throat but an instant scar upon his floor (a wind would wash this wound away) –

Wordly, as lock jaw rocks his lurid mouth, a diabolic chord is struck – this cosmology is a slur – his psalm just an outpouring of

               “No God”

               “No God”

               “No God”
