Also Wildflowers
Path to the ocean is pebbled, prolonged,
perpetually painful, presumed passage-
ways wrong. The miles hobble, hinder the strong
even require havens to hide. Scavenge
sustenance along the roadside — also
wildflowers you wind around vine. Each patch
another adornment you find. Follow
New England asters toward scarlet flax.
Snatch lavender hyssops, corn poppies last
upon a journey of blisters and blooms.
Petal crown you tie round your head as vast
as the cerulean currents that loom
require you suffered these steps, those hours
pain summoned power — also wildflowers.
