Bob Heman

INFORMATION

INFORMATION

A certain arrangement of notes if repeated often enough can be identified as music, or moonlight.

INFORMATION

Afraid that talking about it will make it real.

INFORMATION

Dances with the hippo but not the rhino. Invites the butler and the maid to the unveiling of the window. Asks the widow to help solve the problem of distance. Copies the notes into a book bound with skin. Speaks only when the solution seems to be approaching.

INFORMATION

In this story the frog is only a specimen. It is required for the game but they are not told how to use it.

INFORMATION

The object represents the wind, represents the journey that is always no more than a circle that has not been closed.

INFORMATION

The animal too large to fit in the cage, too large to take a seat on the bus, too large for the river to carry away. It began as no more than a word that had leaked out of a remembered poem.

INFORMATION

The family dinner includes a raccoon and the Bogart triplets. It includes a machine that does not know, and another that does. It also includes a man who has no shadow and a woman who needs to sleep too much. The difference between the soup and the stew is never understood. The third course still seems to be alive.

INFORMATION

The usual stuff: the private eye who doesn't get along with the cops, the slender young woman who wears men like dresses, the bookkeeper who is more than he seems, the boat that was buried in the desert, the note that was written before any of them were born, the gun that is not the murder weapon, the night that never ends.

INFORMATION

Can almost remember what intimacy was like, what it was like in the forest, what it was like to float out to sea, what it was like to add simple numbers. Can almost remember what color the sky was, and what he talked about with the woman. Can almost remember how the machine worked.

INFORMATION

A nail driven through the holy book will strike only those words which we are meant to repeat and learn. This is the second lesson that will help us to return to the place where we began.

INFORMATION

The mistress will forgive the demons that created the holy child, will forgive the curses that filled the field with fiery blossoms and the desires that caused the sea to breathe and caress their waiting bodies. She will forgive the words that became the incantations that resembled poetry and the cries of pain that became the only music they were allowed to make. She will forgive everything without ever becoming part of what they understood.

INFORMATION

One learns how to read. How to count. How to draw an animal with four legs and a head and a tail. How to imitate the machine that is sometimes called a rock or candle. How to differentiate the woman from the trees that surround her. How to find himself inside his own body.
