Michael Vecchio
faucetry
a trick is a joke
spoken with the hands
sign language
of the lizard brain
cajoling lip-sync
of the long digits
which forced upon me
the water bead
fallen crisply
onto concrete bed-linens
you rose
to a hearty breakfast
but the rain fell
so hard your gums ached
each tooth mated
in your porcelain basin
struck chords
in your late night
body of pure meaning
thought of lust eaten
and a good washing
once and for all
the receiver dangled aimlessly
as you downed the last spoonful
the light bulb made
urethane rainbows
the discomfort
of a leaky faucet
blinking single drops
of rust-hole resins
as the basin fills
spills onto the floor
Michael Vecchio has lived and written poetry since the 1980s in Texas, New York, Texas, California, New York, and Texas - in that order. His work is restlessly influenced by physical geography, natural and constructed. He views the writing and reading of poetry as forms of teaching, learning, and passion - the oral and written forms of a poem as equals.
