Acquired Calamities, created during the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, is a sequence of five collages: Maison de Santé, Stress/Distress, Caution! Get Away!, Thunder Horse, Ancient Reliquarium and a cut-up. Approximately 4.25" x 6.25" 2020; Strathmore 80 lb. paper, miscellaneous ephmera scraps including vintage maps, Chinese, Japanese, Tibetan, Indian, and English (The Tatler ca.1709) paper, end papers and found text.




Marilyn Stablein is a poet, writer and mixed media artist who works in collage, assemblage, photography, artist books, and performance art. Her artwork appears in journals, books, online and in private and public collections. Recent books include: a monograph Bind, Alter, Fold: 38 Artist Books; Houseboat on the Ganges & A Room in Kathmandu: Letters from India & Nepal 1966-1972 and Milepost 27: Poems, a pick for Southwest U.S. Book of the Year 2019.
