                                                            							You visit me inside the apple.

You visit me inside a clock.
I didn’t know that’s where I was
until you came to tell me
of the sound you heard, never ceasing,
guiding you from far away, from the time
you were a child.

And now, you say,
now that you hear it as well, 
it’s something to dance to.

You visit me inside a poem by Amichai.
Do you like these Hebrew words? you ask me
in Hebrew, a language I don’t know, but
I imagine that’s what you say.

It’s then I realize you are in the original,
and I am not.
