Marcia Arrieta
minimal
distraction underscores studio
beginning serious direct
understands anonymity enough
walks in sky carries doorknobs
incorporates bookmarks
questions feathers stones
intrinsic skies
light as language
escapes the confines
acorns &
chestnuts
supplemented by
the unconscious
a nasturtium
of thought
torn red paper sun
after reading Calder
ladder
to
window
desks piled
easel empty
spirals & more spirals
yet the land remains
ready to plant
as sculptures arise
from the sea
i made a canoe of bark
sycamore & oak & pine
i drifted through the clouds & water
indefinite
the spaces
between trees
the i
a flowered
tablecloth
a worn
baby blanket
a prayer card
a cross
reflections
in old windows
after the lightning storm
clouds
& sunflowers
the wooden door
& walking stick
the earth calls
an elixir
of sky & clouds where memories do not fail
seconds defy language & nothingness takes on a new meaning
we do not disintegrate
