Stacey Allam & John M. Bennett

Bloodstone

The screech
of twisted
balloon
told my eyes to sleep
the same way
water leaks from a bucket
bleeding into the cement

Ash String

The puppetry of a duck's beak
breaks the glass breath
ate the teeth marks
outta the box
where strings had burned

Wind

The car that takes you places
faster than you want to go
windows covered with plywood
and dried eggs dripping rancid
chicken wing oil that
ruffled all the feathers

Wordless

Hopscotching through
floats of an open song
she saw her leg a wind
with patternless soles
covered with erased poems
and tips of magic slates

Stacey Allam is originally from Rego Park, Queens, New York, but has resided in Brooklyn for many years. She has been writing poetry most of her life.
